Matthew 11:28-30 (AMP)

Come To Me

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavily burdened [by religious rituals that provide no peace], and I will give you rest [refreshing your souls with salvation]. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me [following Me as My disciple], for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest (renewal, blessed quiet) for your souls. For My yoke is easy [to bear] and My burden is light.”

Beloved,

What reassurance we have in our savior Jesus Christ. All things have been given to Jesus by our Abba Father. It is true that no one knows the Son except the Father and no one know the Father except the Son and those whom the Son chooses to reveal Him (Matthew 11:27). I love how it always come in full circle to our triad God. You can’t come to the Father except through the Son and you can’t come to the Son if you were not sent by the Father. Jesus reveals the heart of the Father. In Matthew 11, Jesus proclaims the blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.

How great is the love of the Father and Son! He cares about our health and well being. He raised those who were dead to live again. The sins that entered the world though Adam were overridden by our second Adam, our savior Jesus. Our Abba Father did not want all the destruction that entered the world. He created for us a paradise for us to have communion and fellowship with Him. Abba had a plan from the beginning to have his beloved Son save us and redeem us. The law is holy and righteous but can’t make you righteous. We are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. We now and forever have a King, High priest, and Advocate that speaks on our behalf. Just as Jesus advocated for John the Baptist in Matthew 11, Jesus right now at the right hand of the Father advocates for you and me. How wonderful it is to have a King who came down from Heaven to live among us, to understand us, bring hope and comfort us, and experience life as we know it.

Our compassionate King reassures us in Matthew 11:28-30. At the cross Jesus took all our our judgment, condemnation, iniquities, and sin. This is why Jesus tells us to come to Him when we feel heavily burdened and overwhelmed. He paid the price and took that yoke of heaviness to bestow upon us peace, joy, and a life more abundant. The Father and Son never want us to perform and be perfect, He just wants our heart. Keep your eyes on the one who loves you and will keep you stable. Let us be reminded today that we fight from victory not for victory. Jesus has defeated the enemy and removed the law of sin and death. Let all that is weighing you down be laid at Jesus feet. The Father and Son is such a gentleman, when you work God rest, when you rest God works. Experience today the freedom Jesus died to give you and me!

I pray that you would let striving cease and see Jesus as your provider, way maker, and comforter. In Jesus Name. Amen!
