2 Timothy 1:7 (ESV)

Overcoming Fear with Trust

For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

Beloved,

Do you know how much our Abba Father and Jesus loves you today? You are a masterpiece, fearfully, and wonderfully made. Every part of your being was crafted in the hands of our loving Father. Our Father not only made you in his likeness but gave his only beloved son Jesus to save and redeem you from the law of sin and death. From the beginning our Father had a plan. In Jeremiah 29:11 Abba says, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Sometime it becomes easy to let the troubles and set backs of life cause us to be discouraged, anxious, and fear for the future. In the mist of those trouble we can forget who and whose we are. We can get into the works of the flesh to push forward, strive to fix everything, and forget to look up and see that our Fathers arms are wide open waiting for us to acknowledge Him. Our Abba Father reminds us in Isaiah 41:10, “fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” We are always in the Fathers’ hands even when it feels like he is so far away. The enemy (“the devil”) can make it seem like we are on our own. The enemy will lie to us and deceive us. The enemy will make it seem as if this obstacle or circumstance will never pass.

Beloved, take every thought captive and bring to remembrance of what Abba and Jesus say about you. The enemy will bring thoughts to your mind in first person saying “I can’t…”, “I am not able…”, “I am not capable…”, “I am alone…”, "It's not going to happen for me...", and “I shouldn’t get my hopes up…” Beloved be reminded that you have a Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus who loves you, has placed gifts and talents in you, and believes in you today! In Philippians 4:13 it’s affirms us, “ I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose—I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.]” Let us regain and affirm our trust in the Lord. Let us go forward in our walk knowing that Abba is our God, He will strengthen us, and He will help us. Jesus reminds us that we can trust him and rely on him. In John 14:7 Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” Do you see our wonderful savior promise to those He loves? The Lord is on your side and with his perfect love around you, there is nothing you cannot do. Let us be like David in Psalm 56:3-4, “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?” When we redirect our focus on the Lord and lay down at His feet all things weighing us down there is peace that will come over us that will pass all understanding. In Isaiah 26:3 the promise is given, “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.” Trust and know their is nothing too large or too small to bring to the Lord. If he knows the numbers of hair on your head and finds you more valuable than the birds of the air know today he wants to be apart of every aspect of your life.

We should be casting all our anxieties on him, because he cares for us. It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you and he will not leave you or forsake you. Let us be confident like Paul in Romans 8:38-39, “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” No matter what you may be facing today Abba and Jesus want to be there and pour out love on you. Let the Lord be your light, salvation, and stronghold in life. There is no fear in love but perfect love casts out fear. In Psalm 23, David reminds himself that the Lord is his Shepard. He encourages himself in the Lord, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me” (Psalm 23:4). At our lowest points, in the valleys, during life challenges, and when we are afraid let us encourage ourselves in the Lord like David.

I pray that you are reminded today who and whose you are. I pray that during times of difficulty you will look up to the Heaven’s and see your Abba Father and Jesus looking down on you with love and reassurance. I pray that with a spirit of heaviness you will put on a garment of praise! In Jesus Name. Amen!
